Titleist ProV1x Left Dash
The ProV1x Left Dash came in as the longest ball for slow swing speeds in independent tests. It also came in as the longest ball at the highest swing speeds. Interestingly, if you have an average swing speed (95mph), this ball did not stack up.
How much distance? The Left Dash ball was ~2 yards further than the Vice Pro Plus. It was also ~2 yards further than the Tour Speed. With a significant price difference, is 2 yards worth it on the golf course? That’s for you to decide.

Vice Pro Plus
The Vice Pro Plus came in just short of the ProV1x Left dash, but not by much. Vice Golf is one of my favorite golf ball manufacturers. They are a direct to consumer company, they are not paying millions to sponsor tour pro’s. This allows them to pass on those lower costs.
Personally, I use their Vice Pro golf ball and love it. It doesn’t get as much distance, but I prefer softer golf balls and I am willing to lose a couple of yards for the price and overall performance.
Although the Vice Pro Plus golf ball comes in just short of the Left Dash in slow swing speed tests, it’s so close that it probably isn’t going to make much of a difference for most golfers.
Vice advertises their Pro Plus ball for players with a swing speed of 110+. Obviously this is not in the slow swing speeds range. That being said, independent testing at a slow swing speed put this ball at the top in distance compared to the field.

Titleist Tour Speed
Coming in at #3 for total distance is the Titleist Tour Speed. In terms of distance, it is barely a #3, and given its price and performance, this is my favorite ball on this list.
Personally, I have used the Tour Speed quite a bit. I have tested it on the simulator and on the golf course. I love it! It has a soft feel and offers low spin off the tee. It also offers plenty of greenside spin.
I have also recommended this golf ball to two senior golfers with slower swing speeds that I regularly play with. Both of them gained about 10 yards instantly.
Aside from my personal experience, this golf ball is impressive just by looking at the performance numbers. Titleist has a long line of golf balls. They are also one of the premier and most reputable manufacturers in the industry.
Based on the testing data, thousands of positive customer reviews, and Titleist’s reputation, I feel confident recommending this ball to anyone at ANY swing speed!

Titleist AVX
This golf ball was built for longer distance with very low long game spin.
The AVX performs really well for slow swing speed players, but will not get you as much distance if you are closer to a mid or higher swing speed. It has a soft feel and offers good greenside spin.
The AVX performs really well for slow swing speeds, but check your swing speed below if you are unsure. Anything over 89mph, or pretty close to it, and I’d choose another ball on this list.

Titleist TruFeel
Titleist TruFeel golf balls are another attempt for Titleist to meet the demands of golfers looking for cheaper golf balls. Players with slower swing speeds will find this ball feels great and gets good distance.
I have used this ball on the course once, and my first impression was that it felt great. No surprise that this one also gets 4.7 stars from over 8,500 reviews on Amazon. It is a very soft golf ball and honestly, the name is really appropriate on this one!
I have also recently tested this ball out in the simulator and it gets decent numbers in terms of distance. Spin is definitely on the lower end, which contributes to greater distance off the tee. But that also means less greenside control.
In the lower swing speed category, the TruFeel performs well in terms of distance, and the feel is amazing.

Bridgestone e6
The new e6 with soft feel is Bridgestone’s 2-piece low compression golf ball, priced in the mid-range. Bridgestone produces some really high-quality golf balls and the e6 is no exception.
I have also used the e6 golf ball and found them to be just as long as a ProV1. They felt very soft and I found them to be very durable. They are specifically designed for golfers with moderate swing speeds per Bridgestone, but they hit well for a higher swing speed too.
The e6 golf ball also gets some great reviews on Amazon, which is consistent with my personal experience. They have 4.7 stars from over 5,600 reviews. Players with slower swing speeds will get a lot of extra distance off the tee.

The Vice Tour golf ball is an inexpensive option for slow swing speed players. Vice produces some really high-quality golf balls that compete with any of the major golf ball manufacturers.
I have also used the Vice Tour golf ball and found them to once again be just as long as a ProV1. I found them to be very durable and it is specifically designed for golfers of all swing speeds.
The Tour also gets some great reviews on Amazon, which I have found to be consistent with my personal experience. They have 4.7 stars from over 2,400 reviews. Players with slower swing speeds will get a lot of extra distance off the tee.

What is a Slow swing speed?
If your driver club head speed is below 89 mph, you would fall into the slower swing speed category for the purposes of the testing and recommendations provided here. Unsure of your swing speed? Here is a calculator to get a good estimate.

You don’t need the most expensive golf balls to increase your distance!
The first thing that comes to mind when someone with a slow swing speed is looking for more distance – low compression golf balls.
With recent advances in golf ball technology, golf ball compression is becoming less relevant. Meaning, a low compression golf ball does not always translate to more distance at slower swing speeds with modern golf balls.
Premium golf balls are a great option, but they are not the only answer. It can get very expensive buying golf balls. Many golfers don’t want to pay the price for a premium golf ball and it really isn’t necessary for most.
So I would not do your search based on compression. Instead, I would rely more heavily on recent independent studies that have been conducted with launch monitor data.
Although not an official study – I’ve been testing in my home simulator with a GC3 and have incorporated low, medium, and high swing speeds. A friend of mine who is a senior hits a lot of balls for me and he definitely falls into the slow swing speed category.
Anyway, there was a lengthy study conducted by MyGolfSpy that put many of the top golf balls on the market up against each other. The results, a mountain of data!
I am also using that data, along with my own personal experience to help make these recommendations.
The Best Approach to Choosing a Golf Ball
There is not a one-size-fits-all golf ball!
Everyone has different preferences. Feel, spin, ball flight (trajectory), distance, price. How do you know which golf ball fits into your own list of desires?
How about performance? Finding the perfect golf ball based on your individual swing speed is absolutely a factor to consider. Every golf ball performs differently at various swing speeds.

Ok, maybe I am biased when I say this is the best approach. But honestly, many of the manufacturers have their own. Why? Because there are so many differences across their golf balls and they want to help you find the right golf ball based on your preferences.
If you have a slow swing speed, they are taking that into account. They know how their own golf balls perform at each swing speed. You’ll see many manufacturers placing recommendations based on swing speed on their labels.
But their golf ball selectors only recommend their own golf balls. Titleist is not going to point you to a TaylorMade golf ball.

Tips to Increase Your Swing Speed Immediately
As you know, slow swing speeds contribute to shorter distance, and there are a few things you can do to gain more distance.
The first with increase your distance without having to increasing your swing speed. Simply improve your Smash Factor. Its all about ball striking here. A better strike will result in more ball speed and more overall distance.
Develop a good warmup routine, seriously get loosened up before you tee off. If you just walk up to the tee, take 5 or 6 swings, then rip it, you’re not going to get nearly as much out of it. Both for speed and accuracy.
Increasing the speed of your backswing will also translate into a faster downswing. Our bodies naturally want to find a certain tempo, a ratio of backswing to downswing if you will. When you purposely slow down your backswing, that will result in slow swing speeds in your downswing.

Final Thoughts
I feel strongly that “custom golf ball fitting” is important. But if you are like me, you’re not going to go out and do that.
